Where you left off
Most of what I know about radio arrived years later than it needed to. It came off the air, from club evenings, from people who were patient with me on a repeater — long after the examination was behind me. Very little of it was hard. It was just nowhere I could have found it when I was starting.
This course is an attempt to move some of that forward. It follows the ASOC syllabus clause by clause, and it tries to explain the mechanism behind each answer rather than only naming it, because an answer you understand survives the examination hall and an answer you memorised does not survive the first person who asks you why.
It is also written against the rules as they stand today. The Telecommunications (Amateur Services) Rules, 2024 replaced the 1978 Rules in October 2024, while the published syllabus still names the older ones. Both are set out here, and every point where the answer has moved is marked.
